Maine Arts Commission Grants
Fiscal Year 2005 (2004-2005) abridged

The Maine Arts Commission provides grant support for artists, school districts, community organizations and art institutions through a variety of specialized grant programs. The Maine Arts Commission draws on its state appropriation and federal funds through the National Endowment for the Arts, in addition to tapping into other public and private resources, to make awards across the entire state.

What’s special about 2005? Fiscal year 2005 ushered in a new funding era for artists with the increase in value of each Individual Artists Fellowship award from $3,000 to $13,000. Amy Stacey Curtis, installation artist from Gray, Tom Myron, composer from Portland and Maureen P. Stanton, creative non-fiction writer from Georgetown received the first of these new awards.
