Maine Arts Commission Grants

Grant Program Guidelines, Applications and Forms

The Maine Arts Commission provides grant support for artists, school districts, community organizations and art institutions through a variety of specialized grant programs. The Maine Arts Commission draws on its state appropriation and federal funds through the National Endowment for the Arts, in addition to tapping into other public and private resources, to make awards across the entire state.

What’s special about 2007? Fiscal year 2007 offered Maine arts organizations two new grant programs: Cultural Facilities Accessibility grants and American Masterpieces Visual Arts Projects. American Masterpieces was designed to assist professional Maine visual arts organizations with annual operating budgets of $500,000 or greater, to present major projects such as exhibitions or educational programs that feature American masterpieces. Successful projects showed evidence of significant planning and were highly visible to ensure broad public appeal. The response was stellar. Significant awards were made to four of Maine’s major visual arts organizations including the Center for Maine Contemporary Art for the Maine in Print Project: Celebrating 200 Years of Printmaking in Maine, the landmark, innovative series of exhibitions, education programs, and symposia presented collaboratively by more than 20 partners.
