The Maine Arts Commission’s communications program provides communication between the agency and the public. The program offers support, advocacy, and the ongoing promotion and development of Maine’s artists and art. It also increases the awareness of the Maine Arts Commission’s programs and provides adequate opportunities for public interaction with agency staff.
The Maine Arts Commission employs MaineArts.com as its primary outreach tool. This is supplemented and interwoven with its social media outlets, such as the agency blog, video sharing sites and Facebook presence, as well as through several categorized listservs that provide timely information to the field in the form of emails.
Additionally, the communications program oversees the production of the agency’s outreach materials, such as the Maine Arts Magazine and online media. It also provides interaction with Maine’s press outlets, and plans and executes public events and workshops. The communication program also provides marketing support for artists and organizations by overseeing the agency’s Visibility Grant.
