MICA 2016: See what you missed!
Videos, speeches, and conference materials are now available. The 2016 Maine International Conference on the Arts (MICA) was held in Lewiston/Auburn at multiple venues. The twin cities of Lewiston/Auburn, Maine’s second largest urban area, are where the rivers of Creativity, Industry, Art and Innovation have historically and powerfully converged
We hope you will join us beginning THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6 at 4:30 p.m. at the Gendron Franco Center. Our opening reception will include delicious local Franco and African specialties, as well as live music from two groups. After the reception and to put us all in the right frame of mind for the next day's sessions, poet and Bates College VP of the Office of Diversity Crystal Williams will deliver a talk entitled "Practical Approaches to Creating Impact: Getting to Cultural Equity,"
Then enter the historic Bates Mill complex early on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and the conference welcome at 7:45 a.m. Our Idea Lab, featuring 5 innovative Maine artists, kicks off a full day of 20 breakout sessions at 8:15 a.m. The five conference tracks mirror the priorities of the agency's Cultural Plan - learn more about the sessions and presenters here. Your registration includes breakfast by Forage Market, and a lunch buffet by DaVinci's Restaurant.
All MICA venues are wheelchair accessible. To request an additional accommodation to fully participate in these events, please contact Kathy Ann Shaw at 207/287-2750 or Kathy.email@example.com no later than September 30.
