Working Artist Org. is pleased to announce the newest recipient of its monthly $1000 Working Art Grant/Purchase Award—Trina Carlson!

Memory of the Body, a conceptual body of work exploring imagined narratives and reclaiming the lost and discarded. In many cases, a simple, isolated textile draws to it sympathetic objects that then become woven and bound together into a new history.

Through the consistent use of a limited number of media (textiles, precious objects, pigment, thread and wax), the discrete works stand together, so that possible stories are compelled to dialogue and grow more complex. Memory of the Body is ultimately to do with the psychology of loss and how the mind re-forms memory into the working material of our contemplative life.See Trina's work featured on our home page at http://www.workingartist.org/.
