Want to learn guitar in a fun new way? Mark Buell will be offering a three-day guitar workshop followed by an evening performance/jam the last week of August at the Cobscook Community Learning Center in Trescott.

Participants will jam during the first session to try out some songs. The second and third sessions will be an exploration of some chords and capo tricks, and “finding our way in song” while we develop as a group. The workshop sessions will culminate with a performance/jam session for family and friends on the final night.

Instructor Mark Buell is a former area resident and a music teacher with over forty years experience. Mark teaches guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, theory, songwriting, ensemble playing, and beginning improvisation. For over ten years, Mark has run "jam sessions" and workshops at his music school, Nickel City Frets, in Buffalo, New York. He is constantly organizing student performances in schools, nursing homes, churches, concert halls and his own little venue in Akron New York.

Please bring a capo and a guitar, mandolin, banjo or ukulele, there's bound to be one in a closet near you: go dust it off and bring it around! Also bring a three-ring binder for handouts including songs and other cool stuff you'll cherish for life.

Contact Mark at 716-908-6005 for more information.

The workshop sessions will run Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 25, 27, and 28, 2–4 p.m. The Performance/Jam will take place Friday, August 29, 7–9 p.m.

The Cobscook Community Learning Center is located at 10 Commissary Point Road, Trescott. To register, visit the CCLC’s website www.cclc.me or call: 207-733-2233.
