Call for Images - Juried Photo Exhibition
- February 09, 2015
The University of Maine’s Lord Hall Gallery announces a call to artists for a juried photography exhibition, Visualizing Home and Homelessness, to be held from October 9 to November 13, 2015. Photographic submissions must explore the human experience of home and/or homelessness, and must encourage the viewer to ask challenging questions about their sense of place and identity. How do we experience a place? How do we come to belong in a place, or to identify with a place? What leads us to become estranged or alienated from places? The photographic images selected for inclusion in this exhibition must provide opportunities to consider different ways of thinking about what it means to be “at home” or “homeless”. As this exhibition is part of the Maine Photo Project (http://www.mainephotoproject.org/), photographers must be Maine citizens or have a connection to Maine, or the photographs themselves must represent Maine locations.
Jurors: George DeWolf (photographer - www.georgedewolfe.com, Elizabeth Greenburg (Maine Media Workshops - www.mainemedia.edu / http://www.mainemedia.edu/instructors/photo/elizabeth-greenberg) and Laurie E. Hicks (University of Maine, Department of Art, Professor and Curator, Lord Hall Gallery - http://umaine.edu/art/faculty/hicks/).
The submission deadline is April 10, 2015. For prospectus, please contact lordhallgallery@gmail.com.
