Goose River Press is pleased to announce the publication of Dusty's Udder Luck by Harpswell, ME resident Virginia Cassarino-Brown. The book is beautifully illustrated by Dawn Leeman Prindall. The official publication date is set for July 15th.

A lost, frail puppy wanders onto a New York dairy farm in the middle of a snowstorm. Sadie Jo wants to keep him, but her mother doesn’t approve. A working farm is no place for sick dogs, especially in winter! How will Sadie Jo and her brothers manage to keep the dog and have their mother’s approval at the same time?  Dusty’s Udder Luck is a captivating story based on real life events. See how this German Shepherd becomes a valuable member of a dairy farm family. This charming tale also touches upon life long bonds that can be created between a loving pet and an open heart!

A native of Bethesda, Maryland, Virginia Cassarino-Brown moved to Maine 31 years ago and has made her home there ever since. During the school year, she happily wears her educator’s hat, teaching in her local district  and traveling to other elementary schools to share her books with others. She loves to touch upon the tender balance between animals and people.  Dusty’s Udder Luck is Virginia’s second children’s book. She is also the author of The Tangled Loon. For more information on educational outreach opportunities, email Virginia at vaalbrown@gmail.com.

Dawn Leeman Prindall has happily “doodled” throughout life working as an artist, a set-designer, a community liaison, an educator, a part-time waitress and more. Whatever endeavor Dawn pursues, she is inspired by life on Orr’s Island, Maine and by her vibrant friends and family. Along for the ride are her two fantastic sons, Sam and Tim and her wonderful husband, David. Dawn’s motto: Make the world a little better, each and every day.

At present, Virginia will be signing and selling books at the  following locations: July 10, 2014. Oquossoc Strawberry Festival in Oquossoc, ME, August 21, 2014 Rangeley Blueberry Festival in Rangeley, ME, and November 8, 2014 All Elementary School Crafts Fair in Brunswick, ME.
