- April 03, 2014
Augusta, ME—The Maine Arts Commission is proud to announce an exhibition of artwork by Maine pastel artist Anne Gable Allaire. Anne’s work will be on display through June 2 on the first and second floors of the Capitol Complex as part of the Agency’s Art in the Capitol program.
Anne Gable Allaire lives and works in Kennebunk. In 2006, she was named a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America. Her work is shown in National Exhibitions and she is the recipient of numerous awards. Anne’s work has been exhibited at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, the National Arts Club in New York, NY, and has appeared in the “Pastel Journal.” Allaire is a Signature member and Master Pastelist in the Pastel Society of America and a Signature member of the Pastel Painters of Maine. She is also a juried member of the Art Guild of the Kennebunks. Her work is represented locally by the Mast Cove Galleries in Kennebunkport, Maine. Anne’s paintings may also be seen by appointment in her studio, on her website at www.agafineart.com or in the Master Pastelist Gallery on the Pastel Society of America website at www.pastelsocietyofamerica.org.
She states:
“My amazement at the beauty around me inspires me to paint what I see. Sometimes that might be the natural world or an interior space that “invites me in.” I hope to share this sense of wonder with those who view my work. I love painting with pastels and I have used them since childhood. Pastel is the oldest, most durable and direct medium and I love its versatility. It can be used with much spontaneity or with attention to precise detail. For me, using pastel is like drawing and painting at the same time. The directness of the medium allows me to capture what I see with an immediacy that allows my creativity to flow. I love the process. It is glorious!”
The self-guided exhibit will remain on display through June 2, 2014. Admission is free and the exhibit is open to the public from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information about programs available through the Maine Arts Commission, visit MaineArts.com.
