Jon Blatchford's oil paintings will be on view Friday, February 5th from 5-8pm. Jon says about the work, "My paintings are images, and I think that painters build their images. I'm very interested in the space in which construction happens, and by 'space' I don't mean the studio. Instead, it's the implied space of an image and all the phenomena that exist there. I think a lot about images in general terms, and while I love the materiality and immediacy of painting, I really want that physicality to be tied to representation, and in that way, my work is very literal.

Vestibule594 is dedicated to giving Portland, Maine-based artists visibility. Located at 594 Congress Street, this street-level gallery is a viewing glass for passersby and art enthusiasts alike. Open on the First Friday of each month and by appointment.
