(Cape Elizabeth, Maine) – Two Maine artists: Mark Hagen and Mark Haltof will exhibit their work at a show on Ram Island Farm in Cape Elizabeth, Maine August 16 - August 23. For thirty years these accomplished artists and friends have lived, worked and been inspired by the natural beauty of Maine particularly Ram Island Farm and the surrounding areas. The works exhibited in this show reflect their unique vision of the Maine coast and its treasures as well as works of the imagination.

“My father was an accomplished architectural engineer who was rarely without a drawing pad in hand. He shared his enthusiasm for detailed, technical drawings as well as art as mood and whimsy. This led me into a life long commitment to the visual arts,” said Mark Hagen. Mark has shown his work in group and one-person shows in Maine and Massachusetts. He studied Fine and Applied Arts at Boston University as well as the Santa Fe Institute of Art under nationally renowned artist, Gregory Gillespie. Mark’s current oil on canvas work continues to explore the local landscapes. In addition, the work reflects his continuing interest in Museum interiors and the patrons found there studying the work.

“My paintings are inspired by the world around me. A painting from life captures a segment of time and over a period of time; the subject is the same but the experience each time is different. It takes time to capture the essence, the life of a subject", said Mark Haltof. Mark has exhibited his works in galleries in New York and New England. He studied at the Art Student’s League and the National Academy in New York City and La Grande Chaumiere and Atelier De Gravure in Paris, France. Mark received his BFA from Upper Iowa University and is represented by Greenhut Galleries in Portland. Mark’s current works include landscape, still life and informal portraits.

The artists are available for interviews.
