Ruckus Dance, a Boston-based company led by Boston Conservatory graduate Michael Figueroa comes to the Denmark Arts Center for a week long residency culminating in a showing of new work on Friday May 20th @ 7:30pm. Ruckus Dance has been making waves in the Boston dance scene since their inception last year. In their short time as a company they have already built up quite a following through their weekly class series at Green Street Studio and their performance series commission by the Dance Complex. Dedicated to cultivating physical rigor, urgency, and disrupting the “polite” nature of the dance world, Ruckus can no longer be contained by the city limits of Boston and are beginning to spread their work over the east coast.

Creative lead Michael Figueroa brings a unique energy and charisma to the group. He has 14+ years of dance experience including a period as a competitive jazz dance. Influenced by the work of Trisha Brown, Yvonne Rainer, Keith Hennessy, and Doug Varone, Michael’s work is invigorating, daring, unconventional and still doesn't understand the word ballet.

If you want to come see what all the Ruckus is about, reserve tickets at the Denmark Arts Center by calling 207-452-2412 or emailing info@denmarkarts.org.
