Woods to Water is to be a featured art show at the West Gallery in Damariscotta. Three Maine artists, Blevins, Cheever and Glatz, unite for a Maine inspired show at River Arts Center in Damariscotta July 18-31, 2014. The exhibit will feature local scenes interpreted in photography, pen and ink drawings, acrylic painting, and wood sculpture, offering a variety of topics from the thick green Maine woods to the sparking waters.

Angie Blevins, of New Sharon, Lee Cheever of Harpswell and Janet Glatz of Durham will share their Maine visions of Woods to Water in the West Gallery of River Arts Center on Route 1. The artists will be available for a meet and greet reception on opening night which coincides with the Twin Villages Art Walk of Damariscotta and Newcastle. Hours for the reception are from 4:00-8:00 p.m. As a special feature, there will be a gift certificate drawing applicable to a work of choice for attendees.

Janet Glatz’s brand of realistic acrylic painting is a combination of conveying emotion and a sense of finding oneself within her work. Relying on dramatic light and shadow combined with rich color and accurate detail, she infuses her work with the sense of wonder that she felt when first witnessing or envisioning the scene. Angie Blevins has enjoyed living in Maine for more than 20 years; working out of a quiet, bright studio in the woods in of rural Maine, where she discovers year round inspiration. She attended commercial art school early on, and has specialized in working with oil, ink, and pencil for the past three decades. (http://www.rtist4u.com/)

Lee Cheever is a multifaceted artist living in Harpswell, Maine. Her drawings, sculpture, photographs and paintings reflect both her knowledge of the fundamentals of art and design and her belief in the creative human spirit. An avid traveler, Lee brings a wide range of history and culture to her work. This show will spotlight her photography, and fish and bird sculptures. (http://cheeverteacher.wix.com/leecheever)

“We want to share this beautiful state interpreted with our expressive art”, says Cheever. “Art provides a unique and personal momento of a great vacation or a special moment in someone’s life. It is more than an object on a wall; the creation of the work and the purchase bring together two stories. We offer what we see and feel to share with the viewer. We want them to fall in love.”

River Arts Center is looted on Route 1, slightly north of Damariscotta. The center features member shows, events and activities. For more information on River Arts, see their website at
