(Portland, ME) Richard Boyd Art Gallery is pleased to present "Scenes from Maine" the seventh annual exhibit of works depicting imagery from Maine on October 1 at 10:00 a.m.  The exhibit features paintings by three artists whose works capture the diversity of subject matter in Maine which has long been a source of inspiration for artists. On exhibit are a selection of paintings in a variety of mediums and styles depicting images from the interior, to the islands, coves, and coastal waterways of Maine. The exhibit features paintings by noted artists Rob Anderson - oil on canvas; Felicity Sidwell - oil on canvas; and Charlie Swerdlow - acrylic on canvas. Each work is the artist's interpretation of a scene from Maine. The exhibit is on view free of charge to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily through October 31, 2015.

A multi talented artist and performer, Rob Anderson has created art in various forms for over forty years. Rob fell in love with nature and began drawing at a young age. As a child he spent hours watching his scoutmaster noted Wildlife artist Clark Bronson paint and sculpt in his studio. Rob continued his studies at Brigham Young University, where he studied art under the tutelage of Frank Magleby, and James Christensen. In 1998, after 17 years of owning and managing a small business Rob moved to Maine. Rob's current portfolio of paintings in oil were inspired by the working harbors, sailing vessels, and ever changing interior and coast of Maine.

Felicity Sidwell's art journey has been one of constant exploration, study, evolution and growth. She grew up in England and started painting when she moved to the United States with her husband in 1971, moving from Connecticut to Maine in 2006. Primarily working with oils, Felicity prefers to paint outside "en plein air" to capture the fleeting colors and light of the natural world around her which are so dependent on the atmospheric conditions of the day.

Charlie Swerdlow is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he studied illustration and art history. In addition to creating fine art, Swerdlow works as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer in advertising and publishing. His largest body of work, History Depicted, is a series of paintings envisioning sites and peoples from ancient through contemporary history. Each scene is depicted as realistically as possible, drawing on archival history and contemporary scholarship. A gifted artist and illustrator Swerdlow brings historical scenes to life on canvas using dynamic composition, lighting, and perspective.
