There is a full day of events planned at the annual Ricefest at the Cobscook Community Learning Center Saturday, October 10, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The event will feature artisan demonstrations with potter and sgrafitto artist Tim Christensen, rug braiding with Arlene Wren, stained glass with Mark Wren, ironworking at the forge with Mark Miskell, and other artisans, plus music and food at the bandstand all afternoon, children's games and activities, a Whoopie Pie baking contest, a cake walk, and much more. The event closes with a Spaghetti Supper provided by the Rice Family with entertainment provided by the day’s musicians.

RiceFest is named after Wayne and Lorraine Rice, who were tireless volunteers at the CCLC for many years. In honor of their love of music and their strong belief that everyone should have access to the opportunities afforded by the CCLC, RiceFest was created as an event filled with music, arts, artisans, food, and celebration.

RiceFest coincides with the nationwide American Craft Week, which celebrates and promotes the work of artisans and craftspeople across the country.
