From up River
- Date: August 4, 2014 - August 31, 2014
- Location: Whatnot Gallery, Spindleworks, Brunswick
A school of fine art has swum down the Kennebec from SpinOff Studios in Gardiner to festoon the Whatnot Gallery at Spindleworks: dolphins, mermaids, bucolic riverside vistas, waterfowl and beyond. Discover the vibrant work created by artists at SpinOff Studio, and celebrate the partnership between the two programs with artists and staff alike on August 8, 2014 from 5:00–8:00 p.m.
SpinOff Studio is Spindleworks' sister program, and a nonprofit gallery and creative space for adults with disabilities, facilitated by working artists. Serving the Kennebec Valley area since 2011, SpinOff recently moved from Hallowell to Gardiner, tripling their square footage in order to accommodate the growing program. SpinOff offers art supplies, studio and gallery space, and artists receive 75% of the sale price of their artwork. Creative exploration, community engagement, and personal growth are fostered through workshops, visiting artists and an environment of constant learning. Our Artists are adults age 18 and over, working in a wide range of mediums including: painting, drawing, weaving, fiber and fabric arts, wood, sculpture, poetry, music, new media, acting, and jewelry.
