Portland, Maine:  Jack is Back!  Last year’s sell out premiere returns to the stage in newly expanded form.  Funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, choreographer Nell Shipman has added 15 min of additional choreography, bringing more detail and intrigue into the production. Jack the Ripper terrorized London in the 1800’s, his legacy is one of the most well known unsolved murder mysteries.  Choreographer Nell Shipman shares her view of who Jack was through this original work in 4 performances.  The ballet is set in fragmented scenes that depict the crimes of this mysterious and dangerous man, wrapped in the beauty and power that only ballet can produce. Although the world may never know who Jack the Ripper really was, the women whose lives he ended in the dark of night will never let him forget his deeds. Join us at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater for this premiere performance. The Portland Ballet Studio Theater Art Gallery is currently exhibiting “Linear Strength”, the work of artist Erin McGee Ferrell.
