On Friday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. Ryan P. Casey returns to The Dance Hall with Gumshoes in Tap Shoes a percussive parody of crime noir interweaving storytelling with the infectious beats of dancing detectives, rhythm-making mobsters and fast-footed femme fatales. Period jazz music from artists like Duke Ellington and Henry Mancini provide a soundtrack for Casey and his talented cast to show off their "rocketing rhythms and stylish moves" (The Boston Globe).

Casey, who has performed at The Dance Hall in Drika Overton’s annual holiday jazz and tap productions, was recently named one of the “ 5 to Watch” in Dance Magazine, in which he was noted for his “ freakishly clean footwork  reminiscent of Fred Astaire.” Last year, he earned a choreography grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and was praised in the New York Times as a "gangly dancer [who] can morph from a giraffe into a grasshopper with the graceful fold of the limbs." His company, Ryan P. Casey & Dancers, has performed throughout the Northeast, including the Inside/Out series at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival.

This new piece is a product of his work with the I-ARE (Integrated Artist Residency Exchange) program at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA, through which Casey has been mentored by Executive Director Peter DiMuro and faculty member Daniel McCusker.

Tickets are $16 in advance and $20 at the door and can be purchased at www.thedancehallkittery.org and www.brownpapertickets.com.
