What is TTY?

TTY is a communication device and stands for Telephone Typewriter. This device is also known as a text telephone (TT), or telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD). TTY indicates a device used with the telephone for communication with and between deaf, hard of hearing, speech impaired and/or hearing persons. This device is reserved for use as outlined and is not intended to accept general calls. The designated TTY line for the Maine Arts Commission is 207/287-2360. If you have computer access, you might also try NexTalk.net for better communication options.

Please refer to our Office of Accessibility for more communication options.
