Artist Live/Work/Retail Spaces

Creative people in Maine are concerned with affordable space to live, work and set up retail outlets. The Maine Arts Commission is working at the state level to help with this issue. As a first step, we have contacted a representative from LINC in Boston. LINC has done an enormous amount of work on artist dwellings and retail spaces. We have attached their information here as resource material. As we move forward with our work through the legislature and with Maine State Housing Authority we will keep you informed through this page and our soon to be created blog.

LINC (Leveraging Invesments in Creativity)- a ten-year national initiative to improve conditions for artists in all disciplines, so that artists can more readily do their creative work and contribute to community life.

ArtistLink - a new collaborative effort to create a stable yet dynamic environment for Massachusetts artists. This site takes a leadership role on artist space by providing individual artists, developers, and municipalities with targeted information and technical assistance and by advocating for relevant policy changes at the state levle.
