Self-subscribe to MaineArts.com Directory of Maine Artists

We encourage all Maine artists, arts organizations, arts and cultural related businesses, collectives and associations to self-subscribe for a directory listing. The directory is a resource of contact information, disciplines, profiles, fees, and other information provided as well as links to your website for easy navigation for those seeking more information.

Once your listing is created, you control how you want to promote yourself by logging into your account and updating often. The Maine Arts Commission promotes this web directory through various marketing efforts and in turn is promoting all who are part of it. Best of all – it’s free!

Preparation of materials

Before you log in to enter your directory listing, be prepared by writing a bio/profile beforehand. This descriptive text helps identify yourself and/or your artwork to the public. We recommend 100 words or less. Also, have the direct web address (URL) for your own website ready. You can have up to three web addresses "hot linked" from your MaineArts.com directory listing. This allows people to go to another website where they may find out more information and see additional images of your works of art.

How to list yourself as an artist

To be included in the directory, simply create a new account and add your directory listing within your MaineArts.com account. If you already have a MaineArts.com account, log in to your existing account and add your directory listing.

You may have more than one directory listing using the same MaineArts.com account. For instance, you have one listing for yourself as an artist and you have a seperate listing for your gallery, studio or other arts related business.

All Maine artists and arts and cultural related business are eligible for listing in this directory, provided they are based in Maine. Artists may be part-time residents, however, must use their Maine address and contact information in this directory.

Can I attach an image to my listing?

Yes. To have an image of yourself or a piece of your work included, please send one image to Lisa Veilleux, technology associate, and ask to have it included in your directory listing in MaineArts.com. Please follow image guidelines below when submitting your image.

Image format requirements:

Size requirement: Width set at 240 pixels; Height and image size will vary from each image
Resolution of 72 dpi
Color .jpg files preferred. Black & White images accepted but not encouraged.
Images must be sent in an email as an attachment, not embedded in the email document.
Name your image (naming conventions below)
Submit with a cutline (image details as directed below)

How do I update my existing listing?

It is important to update your listing and ensure your contact information is current otherwise people will not be able to contact you and you may miss an opportunity to communicate, exhibit or even sell your artwork. To best reflect your artistic abilities, please be sure to review your discipline selections and update your artist profile. If you do not have a profile, please take this opportunity to add a profile of 100 words or less in your listing. The artist profile is crucial for viewers to get a glimpse of who you are. Also, if you have a website of your own, please be sure to add your website address (URL) to your listing. This becomes a hot link direct to your website for someone to seek additional information.

To update your listing, log in to your existing account and update your existing directory listing.
