Strategies for Success: Getting the Bang out of Your Board

Sustainable, thriving, well-funded arts organizations depend on leadership: from staff to board to volunteers (sometimes these being one and the same). Sustainability and fundraising start with the board, which is the focus of this workshop. Boards are too easy to overlook in small organizations, companies, and start-ups: yet they are vital to the operation of cultural institutions, particularly for their essential role in planning and fundraising. This three-hour workshop addresses board development and management: how to select, cultivate, prepare and manage board members in assuming the tasks your organization needs the most for long term success. Bring your questions. Get the most out of your board, for the sake of your organization.

Craig Dreeszen, Ph.D.
Craig Dreeszen is an educator, consultant, and writer who works nationally with arts and other community organizations to do organizational development and strategic planning, collaborative planning, program evaluation and community cultural planning. Dreeszen directed the Arts Extension Service at the University of Massachusetts for twelve years until 2002, when he founded Dreeszen & Associates, a consulting firm in Northampton Massachusetts.
