Argy Nestor - Maine Department of Education Workshop

Argy Nestor

This year's workshop attendees will enjoy the additional expertise of Argy Nestor who joins us from the Maine Department of Education.

All Arts Educators have the opportunity to revise curriculum and programming using the recently revised Maine Learning Results. In October 2007, after a three-year process, the revised standards were approved by the state board of education. Argy Nestor, the Visual and Performing Arts Specialist from the Maine Department of Education, will describe the revisions and the implications they have for teaching and learning. Aligning local curriculum with the Maine Learning Results is taking place this year and arts education programs are strengthened through the process. This segment of the artME workshops is designed for classroom arts educators, Kindergarten through grades 12, as well as artist educators who work in schools or wish to align their work with the Maine Learning Results.

Argy will also share information on the Department arts education website, newsletter, blog, available resources and upcoming professional development opportunities. She looks forward to meeting and greeting arts teachers and welcomes your participation.
