Frequently Asked Questions About the Maine Artists and Organizations DirectoryWhat is the Maine Artists and Organizations Directory?This state-wide interactive directory serves the public worldwide by providing a place to find out about Maine's artists, arts/cultural organizations, and arts/cultural businesses. The multi-level searchable directory provides details including the name, contact information, profile, disciplines, availability, map and driving directions, and much more. How do I access a Directory listing?Access to the directory is set up through a link (Find Artists and Organizations) from the home page and the left side navigation bar on any page in MaineArts.com. provided to access a comprehensive listing of all directories. How do I search for an artist or arts organization?Searches can be performed by changing the criteria in any one of the selection boxes on the directory search results page. (hint: results are best using less search criteria.) How do I add a listing?To add a listing in the directory, log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account or create a new user account. Select the "My listings" tab and add a listing. Maine Arts Commission staff must review and approve all new listings before they are live on the website. Therefore, allow up to 48 hours for the Maine Arts Commission staff to process your request. Changes to existing listings will appear on the live site immediately after you submit your changes. I created an account, but I can't find my name when I conduct a search in the directory. What happened to my listing?Creating a directory listing for new users to the system is a two step process. First you must set up a new user account and second you need to go to your account and create a listing in the artists directory. To make sure you have completed step two of the process, log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account and follow the instructions above on how to add a listing. If you find you do have a listing in your account, check to see if it has been approved or is in pending status. Contact the office if it is pending and a staff member can process it for you. If your listing is in approved status, try searching the artist directory again and change your criteria to be less specific and scroll down the results to find your listing. Still no results? How do I modify an existing directory listing?To modify a listing you have previously posted, log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account. Select the "my listing" tab and the listing you wish to edit. Once the directory listing has been modified, it will immediately update your live listing. Can I have an image appear with my directory listing?Yes. To have an image of yourself or a piece of your work included, please send one image to Lisa Veilleux and ask to have it included in your directory listing in MaineArts.com. Please follow image guidelines below when submitting your image. Image format requirements:
Can I link my website from yours?Yes. The directory listing allows for up to three links to your website and others that you may be featured on. (hint: if not your direct website, we suggest you use the exact URL link for the page on which you are featured . Sending users to navigate a site to locate you will only provide them the opportunity to get lost or view other artists' work.) How do I delete an existing directory listing?To delete a listing you have previously posted, log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account. Once you have accessed your MaineArts.com account, you would select the "my listing" tab and the listing you wish to delete. Scroll down to the bottom and select delete then post. This will remove your listing from the directory permanently. Who is eligible for a listing in the directory?All Maine artists and arts and cultural businesses and organizations. Part-time residents may also have a listing, however they must use their Maine address.
