What is the Opportunities Directory?

For artists, art organizations and arts educators in Maine it is a way to find available arts related opportunities. Opportunities may include markets, competitions, residencies, exhibitions, grants, employment and more. Maine Arts Commission staff and the public post to this directory daily, therefore it is important to check often for new listings. This interactive directory serves the public worldwide by providing a place to call for artists.

How do I access an opportunity?

Access to the opportunities directory is set up through a link from the home page provided to access a comprehensive listing of all opportunities. For a direct link, http://mainearts.maine.gov/opportunities/default.asp

How do I search for an opportunity?

Searches can be performed by changing the criteria in any one of the selection boxes on the opportunities search results page.

How do I add an opportunity?

To add an arts opportunity, log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account or create a new user account. Once in your account, select the opportunity tab and add an opportunity. Maine Arts Commission staff must review and approve listings before they are live on the website. Therefore, allow up to 48 hours for the Maine Arts Commission staff to process your request.

How do I modify an existing opportunity listing?

To modify a listing you have previously posted, log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account. Select the opportunity tab and open the listing you wish to edit. Make your edits and scroll down to the bottom of the form and select the "update" radio button then "post".Once the opportunity has been modified, it is considered as a new request and must be placed in que for approval by the Maine Arts Commission staff. Allow up to 48 hours for processing.

How do I delete an existing opportunity listing?

To delete a listing you have previously posted, log in to your existing MaineArts.com user account. Once you have accessed your MaineArts.com account, you would select the opportunity tab and open the listing you wish to delete. Scroll down to the bottom of the form and select the "delete" radio button then "post".

What opportunities are eligible for listing?

All arts and cultural opportunities worldwide are eligible for listing in the opportunities directory.

How long will the opportunity be displayed on the calendar?

All opportunities are displayed according to the start date supplied at time of listing and are automatically removed from the directory system once the deadline for the opportunity has passed. Opportunities without deadlines will be posted for two years.
