arra logoFunds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act allowed the Maine Arts Commission to implement two rounds of the Maine Recovery Grant.

The Maine Arts Recovery Grant provided funding to retain critical staffing positions at nonprofits arts organizations in Maine that would have otherwise been cut due to the economic downturn. During the two rounds of the Maine Arts Recovery grant, the Maine Arts Commission awarded over $255,000 to 24 organizations to partially support 32 positions.

  • Eastport Arts Center, Eastport ($10,000)

  • Figures of Speech Theatre, Freeport ($12,802.50)
  • Five Rivers Arts Alliance, Brunswick ($10,000)
  • Friends of DaPonte, Damariscotta ($10,000)
  • Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center, Gardiner ($10,000)
  • Kennebec Valley Arts Association, Hallowell ($10,000)
  • L/A Arts, Lewiston ($10,000)
  • Lark Society for Chamber Music, Portland ($6,000)
  • Lincoln County Community Theater & Orchestra, Damariscotta ($10,000)
  • Mahoosuc Arts Council, Bethel ($9,000)
  • Maine Alliance for Arts Education, Augusta ($10,000)
  • Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, Portland ($10,000)
  • Penobscot Marine Museum, Searsport ($10,000)
  • Portland Stage Company, Portland ($12,802.50)
  • Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan ($10,000)
  • Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project, Houlton ($10,000)
