The Media outreach section facilitates the exchange of information through various means, such as the Events Calendar, Listsevs, the Press Release Section, Publications and social media.

The Maine Arts Commission’s Calendar of Events is a comprehensive listing of arts and cultural events in Maine. The calendar provides that crucial exchange between artists and organizations wishing to promote their events, and members of the public who are seeking cultural events to attend.

All Maine arts and cultural events are eligible for listing; they can be posted by individuals or organizations through a free user account. Event listings are searchable by date, category and keywords. The listings can contain an image, contact information, a map to the location and more than one external link to other websites.

Listservs are electronic email newsletters that are sent on a regular basis to subscribing constituents. These emails supply the latest relevant news and opportunities to Maine’s cultural sector. There are currently eight listservs to choose from which can be customized to suit your needs. You may log in to your account and tailor your selections at any time.

Recipients of Maine Arts Commission funding are required to prominently acknowledge the agency’s support for their award in all materials and announcements; this includes the use of the Maine Arts Commission logo.

The Press Release section has several purposes; primarily, it can be used as a way of keeping up to date with all the latest news within the arts community across Maine. It also allows account holders to post their own releases, with images, to keep others informed about their latest news. Finally, this section allows those looking for stories for their publications to extract the text and high definition images while allowing them to make further contact with the poster of the release for follow-up information.

The primary publication from the Maine Arts Commission is the Maine Arts Magazine. The agency also produces other informational materials for various programs. All of these publications can be accessed digitally online.

The Maine Arts Commission employs various social networking tools for the purposes of advocacy, extended information sharing and the gathering of important feedback. This section will introduce interested parties to all of the current options available to become part of the agency’s social network.
