Marc Mailhot has agreed to be one of the 3 Judges at the 2009 Guitar Center Drum-Offs to be held at their store in South Portland, Maine on September 24...October 1 and October 8. The Store Finals will be held October 15. The Winner from the Store Finals competes in the District Finals on November 5 and that winner at the Regional Finals in New York City on December 5. The Regional Winner will then compete in the Grand Finals in Los Angeles in January 2010. Each competition begins at 6 PM.
Contestants will perform on a 5 piece kit. They may bring their own snare drum...throne...drum pedal and sticks. Performances will last 3 minutes and will be judged on 5 criteria: originality...skills & technique...style...stage presence and overall performance. There will be an average of 5 to 6 contestants each week with the winner continuing on to the next weeks contest.
Marc is a Maine veteran musician...songwriter and President of Marco Polo Music in Westbrook, Maine. He started playing piano in 1957 and drums in 1964 and will commemorate 50 years of public performance in 2010.
