Artery: Visual Arts Along the Kennebec cordially invites you to its first collaborative exhibit: "Artists With a Heart for the Community".

"Artists with a Heart for the Community" is a special 10 day exhibition to benefit Maine General Medical Center's Division of Cardiology. The exhibition will be on view November 6 to 18, 2009 at the Richmond Store Gallery at 54 Main Street in downtown Richmond. The public is invited to an opening reception on Friday, November 6th, 5-8pm.

"Artists with a Heart for the Community" was organized by Artery, a new group promoting the visual arts from Augusta to Richmond. Area arts organizations are participating, with the work of 39 individual artists work on display, including the Kennebec Valley Art Association, Circling the Square Fine Art Press and ArtDogs, Corniche, Hallowell Clay Works, The Potter's House, Cerulean Gallery and exhibition host; the Richmond Store Gallery. 10% of the proceeds of any sales will be donated to Maine General Medical Center's Division of Cardiology.

Artery is a group of visual artists and creative enterprise business owners located along the Kennebec River from Augusta to Richmond. The purpose of this group is to engage in collaborative efforts that would benefit galleries, towns, and sites and bring them greater recognition and growth in sales and profitability. The idea was spurred on by the recent opening of the Center for Maine Craft store in West Gardiner whose site was to include an information area that was potentially a visual art demographic and that was projecting 180,000 visitors a year. Membership is $50/year and new members are welcome. Please contact Helene Farrar at 207-485-5691.
