The Colonial Theatre, a 900-seat performing arts center located in Keene, New Hampshire is seeking an technically knowledgeable, experienced professional to supervise all production aspects of live event presentations and oversee maintenance and repairs of the entire facility. The Colonial annually hosts more than 50,000 people with programming that includes Broadway tours, world music, opera, dance, student shows, film and community arts groups. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the Audience Services and House Management departments.
Production Responsibilities
* Advance all aspects of incoming shows, including reviewing and negotiating performers? contracts technical requirements, house labor requirements, rental requirements and projecting and adhering to budgetary limitations.
* Recruit, hire, train and supervise all event staff, and when necessary bid out over hire labor.
* Develop and maintain professional business relationships with all relevant vendors, performers, staff and road crew.
* Represent house as Production Manager, Technical Director and Facility Manager.
* Coordinate with Front of House Manager and Director of Audience Services any specific requirements for each performance.
* Communicate effectively with Executive Director all aspects of incoming shows, including budgets, labor hours, and special needs.
Facility Responsibilities
* Manage facility preventative and special maintenance and serve as liaison to commercial and residential tenants and outside vendors.
* Obtain quotes from applicable vendors/contractors for maintenance and repairs of the facility?s theatre operations, residential and commercial spaces.
* Develop and maintain systems for all applicable city departments and appropriate inspections.
* Supervise technical workings of projection booth.
Qualifications:
B.A./B.S. Degree in Technical Theatre, related field or commensurate experience. 3-5 years of effective experience in technical theatre. Ability to work non-traditional hours including frequent weekends and evenings. Superior communication, public relation, people skills and management abilities.
