Grant: $10,000 This grant supports an artist residency at a lighthouse complete with apartment and studio that has been newly renovated by the Swallowtail Keepers Society on Grand Manan Island. The work that the artists will delve into while in residence off of the coast of Maine and New Brunswick at the convergence of two bodies of water will continue her investigation into what lies below the surface, what’s unspoken and what lies, possibly, beyond our understanding. This investigation has most recently led the artist to the sea – the oldest and most ancient symbol of mystery. With the extreme twice daily tidal surges and hourly changing weather patterns, Grand Manan and the immediate proximity of the studio to the shoreline is the ideal location for the artist’s ongoing study of the ever changing and shifting power of nature.
