Grant: $3,153This grant will support Clay in the Classroom which will send professional ceramic artist and sculptor Greg Ondo into the 5-8th grade art classes as a visiting artists and co-teacher to introduce ceramic techniques and topics to enrich three-dimensional art offerings. Mr. Ondo will also serve as a technical mentor to the Veazie Community School art instructor, supporting her professional development in the areas of hand building, glazing, and the firing of kilns. In art education, hand building projects with clay are widely considered to be on of the most inclusive and useful easy to teach all learners skills such as focus, expression, observation, experimentation, and reflection.
Grant: $10,000This grant will support Julia’s Gallery Film Project which will allow a group of teens to create one 28-minute filmic project using a variety of media arts, and then demonstrate what they have learned by showing the film in diverse public venues. The project will include both veteran and novice filmmaking students and will focus on how to understand and use new media, such as digital photography, film, computer technology, video, and on-line visual resources. Filming, lighting, editing, set design and construction, wardrobe, make-up, hair styling, transcription, screen writing, and many other elements of filmmaking will be explored. The students will develop, produce, direct, edit, promote, and premier the finished video.
