Grant: $1,500This grant will support a recording project to expand visibility of The Summer King, an opera documenting the life and considering the legacy of Negro League baseball player Josh Gibson. Funds will go towards hiring a Maine based recording technician and instrumental musicians to create a professional audio recording of one of the most central and ambitious scenes from the opera. The recording will constitute a major advance in the artist’s ability to market the work to opera producers and companies in hopes of securing a staged performance.
University of Maine at Presque Isle
Grant: $1,500This grant will support publication of a color catalog for the exhibition Eye to Eye: the Multiples of Andy Warhol. The exhibition will highlight works from the 100 photograph collection recently acquired by the University of Maine at Presque Isle through a grant from the Warhol Foundation. The University of Maine at Presque Isle was one of only three Maine institutions to receive works from the Warhol Foundation. Funding will allow the Reed Fine Art Gallery to reach a wider demographic in paid publicity.

Grant: $500This grant will support the expansive yearlong celebration Making Arts History Visible: the 100th Anniversary of the Stonington Opera House by partially funding a project installation of images that tell the history of the theater, its production and its community onto the face of the building.
Tides Institute and Museum of Art
Grant: $500This grant will support the redesign and development of a graphic identity for ARTSIPELAGO: Two Countries, One Bay, a reinvention, expansion and repositioning of the Tides Institute and Museum of Art’s annual Two Countries, One Bay Studio Tour initiated by the Tides Institute in 2007.

Maine Jewish Film Festival
