Join Maine's Creative Communities & Artists: Streaming LIVE
January 12, 2021. | 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST
Virtual MICA is FREE and open to the public and features a full day packed with professional development, networking opportunities, and helpful resources that bring together creative communities to advance the arts in Maine.
Nearly a year into navigating the complex effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest, artists and arts organizations are doing what Mainers do best - adapting and finding new ways to survive, and even thrive. Virtual MICA explores the ways our creative sector can best support each other while continuing to do meaningful work during this exceptionally difficult time.
The Maine Arts Commission is recruiting expert speakers and leaders in the arts to host interactive workshops exploring the themes of resiliency and inclusivity:
- How do we build resilience in an age of uncertainty?
- How do we build more inclusive and welcoming arts spaces?
- How do we grow an audience in a digital world?
- How do nonprofits adapt and energize their fundraising efforts?
- Plus performances, intensives, art, and more!
Professional development sessions will be 50 minutes, offering the opportunity to learn about new practices, discover opportunities, and explore ideas. The sessions can take the form of debates, lectures, workshops, think-tanks, or any other compelling way of presenting information.
The goals for the conference include building momentum for the arts and arts education, to continue strengthening local communities, making arts spaces more accessible, inclusive, and equitable, and developing creative synergies across political and economic sectors.
