FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
2020 VISION: PAST, PRESENT, & FUTURE
An online juried art exhibition
CREATIVE PORTLAND ART GALLERY

Twelve emerging and established artists from the Greater Portland area were selected to exhibit
in Creative Portland’s sixth juried show 2020 Vision: Past, Present, and Future . The
Bicentennial-themed exhibition will be available online only, beginning July 1, 2020. At this time
Creative Portland does not feel comfortable hanging a new show for public visitation in the
gallery. View the exhibition virtually at creativeportland.com/2020VISION . There is no opening
reception scheduled.

Artists responded to the theme 2020 Vision by sharing a personal interpretation of a moment in
Maine’s history. They reflected on how we are changing, where have we come from, what have
we learned or accomplished, and most importantly -- where we want to go? Executive Director,
Dinah Minot led the volunteer curatorial team consisting of illustrious women artists, curators,
and gallerists. They included Kate Anker ( Running with Scissors ), Tessa O’Brien ( Able Baker
Contemporary & Independent Artist ), Olga Merrill ( Independent Artist ), Elizabeth Moss
( Elizabeth Moss Galleries ), and Eileen Gillespie ( Independent Artist ).

The curatorial team selected artists André Benoit, Rachel Church, Julien Coyne, Diane Dahlke,
Christian Farnsworth, Norajean Ferris, Janice L. Moore, Sara Perera-Kane, C.T. Rasmuss,
Abbeth Russell, Gail Skudera, and Jaime Wing. The local artists demonstrate disparate
processes: collage of dried acrylic paint, exceptionally crafted hand-tufted rugs, multiperspective
photography, woven mixed media, cyanotypes, paintings, drawings, and more.

The show was originally scheduled to hang from April 2020 - October 2020. Due to the global
pandemic, the virtual exhibition timeline is July 1, 2020 to April 15, 2021.

As the city of Portland’s official nonprofit arts agency, Creative Portland’s mission is to support
