Kittery, ME- On Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. celebrated Boston music writer Steve Morse returns to The Dance Hall for a third vinyl listening event featuring U2's groundbreaking album The Joshua Tree. Joining Steve is well known Boston deejay John Laurenti. The Classic Vinyl Listening Club is an event that offers a collective listening experience of classic vinyl records and heralded first hand stories.

The Joshua Tree is the fifth studio album by rock band U2. Inspired by American tour experiences, literature, and politics, U2 chose America as a theme for the record. The Joshua Tree received critical acclaim, topped the charts in over 20 countries, and sold in record-breaking numbers. According to Rolling Stone, the album increased the band's stature "from heroes to superstars".

According to Steve Morse "U2's 'Joshua Tree' was one of the most exciting album releases of my 30-year career at the Boston Globe. I remember getting an advance copy and blasting it in my car while people pulled up alongside at traffic stops and asked what it was."  He continues "It was U2's high-water mark in terms of sales, but also the most sophisticated statement of the band's spirituality and an absolute must-have for any serious rock fan."

Frequently featured on critics' lists of rock's greatest records, The Joshua Tree is one of the world's best-selling albums, with over 25 million copies sold. U2 released a remastered edition of the record in 2007 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. In 2014, the album was selected for preservation in the United States Library of Congress National Recording Registry.

Special thanks to Dave Archambault of Vinyl Nirvana and Paul Tibbetts of Seacoast Audio for their expertise and equipment.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased at TheDanceHallKittery.org or RiverRun Bookstore in Wallingford Square, Kittery.
