With deep roots in Knox County, violinist Robert Simonds will perform a solo recital of American composers, music of the Baroque era and traditional American folk. The program weaves together the kinetic and colorful music of living composers including Missy Mazzoli and Maine-based Patricia Van Ness with their 17th and 18th Century influences.

Robert Simonds has a multifaceted career as an orchestral player, chamber musician and solo recitalist. Interested in contemporary music for as long as he can remember, his performances balance the kinetic, colorful and sincere music of today with Americana and Baroque traditions.

The upcoming 17/18 season will be Rob’s sixth as principal second violin of the Louisville Orchestra and his seventh summer as a member of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz, CA.
