- Time: 07:30 PM - 08:30 PM
- Location: Bangor Public LIbrary, Bangor
Enjoy the world premiere of THE PRIDE OF BANGOR [or What Not to Wear], a one-act history play by Laura Emack, about former Bangor mayor Patricia Blanchette. Long-time residents will recall her very public battle with shock jock Don Imus over the proper wardrobe for the Paul Bunyan statue.
This event is offered in conjunction with the 1st Friday Downtown Art Walk on August 3, 2018. Suggested donation of $5 will go to the Barbara A. McDade Endowment Fund to purchase books.
Laura Emack's work has been produced in New York City and throughout Maine.
THE PRIDE OF BANGOR [or What Not to Wear] is Laura's third history play set in Maine. THE DECONSTRUCTION OF GEORGE QUIMBY was presented as a staged reading in May 2007 at Penobscot Theatre's "Northern Writes New Play Festival" in Bangor, and in March 2008 by Belfast Maskers.
BROKEN BRIDGES, set in Prospect, honors the town's first female selectman and was performed on Prospect History Day in September 2015. Laura resides in a stone house in Prospect with her husband of 38 years..
