About the Artist
Holly L. Gooch I combine living and/or once living tissue with conventional jewelry materials and forms to explore the nuances of bodily tactility and meaning. This methodology both visually and conceptually invokes taboos that challenge aspects of prescribed social conditioning, public and private experiences, and jewelry as a fetishized/glorified object. I make pieces by taking physical and mental risks that evoke my curiosity and excitement through immediate visceral response. I am interested in the resulting objects'' potential as a catalyst for the individual and the group to draw, recognize, and reevaluate boundaries.
