Animation Workshops (20 contact hours suggested)
An introduction to classical animation: cut-paper techniques
Multi-ages welcomed, 9 through adult. Suggested for creative storytellers who enjoy drawing and exploring art materials. Teachers interested in using animation projects in the classroom are encouraged to attend.
Think animation team! The workshop begins with a group sharing and “brainstorming” to develop the project story line. Participants create the characters, sets, and props and then “capture” with a frame-by-frame digital camera. As time allows, depending on the direction of the project, soundtrack elements (narration, sound effects, music) will also be incorporated.
We will view and discuss a broad sampling of short films by international animators as well as the work of Maine students.
Post-production editing and mastering of copies is accomplished after the last formal class.
Per person materials fee: $10 includes animation Bristol, tacky putty (supplied by the instructor) and a DVD copy of final, edited project.
