Workshop Description: Do you have a product or artwork you want to show or sell, but you are lacking some of the basic business tools to move forward? Maine’s top professionals will provide solid advice about these opportunities, whether it is your first step in or just needing a refresher course. They will cover topics such as product wholesale, approaching gallery representation, and how to build a sustainable arts career.

Workshop Description: Get down and dirty with national planning consultant Diane Mataraza on why planning is what you need and how to make it work. Diane has more than 30 years of experience in the trenches as an arts educator, non-profit arts administrator, federal arts funder, and foundation director helping arts and cultural organizations build strong, sustainable programs.

2:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m. — The Role of the Arts in Communities in Crisis

Workshop Description: Even rural Maine communities experience natural disasters and human-caused tragedies, including gentrification and political shifts, and artists and arts organizations are often the first to step forward to help communities recover, gather, and heal. Best practices and healthy examples are emerging from these efforts.
