Call for Art: Misunderstood Animals

  • April 19, 2019

Spindleworks is hosting an open call exhibit to benefit the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust. The exhibit “Misunderstood Animals” will run at Frontier July 30th- October 25th is meant to draw attention to the valuable role that all creatures play in our ecosystem. This year we are asking artists to submit art that represent species that are undervalued contributors to our planet’s diversity. We would like to invite you to create art based on any lifeform even the most hated, feared, forgotten, or mistrusted creatures of the earth’s animal kingdom. We welcome diversity of artistic expression to reflect this topic, but reserve the right to turn away art that does not relate to this topic including work that depicts fictional creatures. This will be the sixth exhibit in the series, which has drawn artists from across Maine and across the country. This year we have chosen the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust to receive the funds raised. We recognize the important role that this organization plays in having a direct impact on local habitat for native species. 30% from each sale will be donated to this important and well-loved local organization.  This exhibit is open to submissions from all community artists.

Spindleworks is a non profit art center for adults with disabilities and a program of the Independence Association of Brunswick Maine, whose mission is to help children and adults with disabilities achieve full and inclusive lives in their chosen community.
