Portland Chamber Music Festival: Bach, Brahms, and 'Paganiniana'
- Date: August 16, 2018
- Time: 07:30 PM
- Location: Hannaford Hall at the USM Campus, Portland
PCMF celebrates 25 years of bringing world-class chamber music to southern Maine, and the farewell season of Founding Artistic Director Jennifer Elowitch, with acclaimed performers from our country’s top ensembles, festivals, and conservatories.
This concert opens with a poignant Bach cantata featuring soprano Tony Arnold, acclaimed by Huffington Post as “a luminary in the world of chamber music and art song.” In celebration of the 25th anniversary season, PCMF has joined three other prominent summer music festivals to commission a major new work for solo violin and chamber ensemble by Resident Composer David Ludwig. A passionate early work by Brahms, his first String Sextet, ends this eclectic evening on a buoyant note.
Subscriptions and single tickets are available for sale at www.pcmf.org or by calling (800) 320-0257. Single tickets are $32 in advance, $35 at the door, and free for 21 and under. (Valid ID may be required at the door.) Subscribe to all four concerts for just $105.
