Kittery, ME- Well known local musician Carol Coronis and her band return to The Dance Hall on Friday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m. for a live music and dance event: Greek Dance Party! Everyone is invited to come early for a fun and easy to follow introductory dance lesson before the band starts.

Seacoast musician and WUNH radio show host Carol Coronis has been firing up audiences with her energetic delivery of music in the Balkan/Middle Eastern, Celtic, rock, and American roots genres for over a decade now. Her debut cd "girl from thessaly" is a collection of thirteen traditional and original songs with roots in Greece, Macedonia, Turkey, Arabia, and a bit of Ireland. Armed with Carol's citterns and soul-evoking vocals, there are drums, bass, and a visit from a fiddle and an accordion melding to bring this music to a heart-thumping crescendo.

Then on Saturday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. the Boston based John Funkhouser Trio will kick off October's first music listening room event.

The trio is a band of Musicians without Borders. With influences as wide ranging as Woody Guthrie, Thelonious Monk, Frank Zappa, Frederic Chopin, and Ravi Shankar, the Trio "employs complex rhythms, deep soulful moments, rock and passion and sensitivity." (-Bebop Spoken Here). Each of Funkhouser's expansive compositions inhibits a unique universe, while the band seamlessly integrates composed music with improvisation into "a whirling dervish of sound and light." Both events are for all ages. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased at www.thedancehallkittery.org or

The Fall season at The Dance Hall in Kittery features an eclectic range of exciting events falling into a trio of series that define the mission of the Hall creating a home for music, dance and community.

The Dance Hall executive director Drika Overton recently realized that most, if not all of the programming on the schedule at the Hall fit into three unique categories: dance performance (DP); music performance or listening room events (MP); and music and dance events (MD.)

"I decided that it would be helpful for audiences if we clearly identified events in our line-up so that they might know better what to expect." Overton explained. From veteran to emerging artists, the schedule is filled with artists who might not yet be known to local audiences. Many who have performed, from Seattle to NY, Boston and closer home, have remarked on the Hall's beautiful room and acoustics.

"We feel so fortunate to be able to offer artists a place to create and perform and for audiences to experience live performance in our intimate venue. It creates magic for everyone."
