Brooklyn-based dance artist, educator, and musician Laurel Snyder will preview her new solo dance piece at the Denmark Arts Center on Saturday, April 30th. Snyder's work blends melody and movement to create a truly unique performance experience. She will use her physical intelligence to release her blocks as a songwriter and compose new melodies live in conversation with pre-recorded creations. She will leave the notion of "perfection" behind as she presents herself as a perpetual "work-in-progress".

As a performer, Laurel is privileged to currently collaborate with Faye Driscoll, Tere O'Connor, Tatyana Tenenbaum, and Kendra Portier's BAND/Portier. Laurel's choreography has been shared at spaces such as the Tank, H.T. Chen's Newsteps series, Triskelion Arts, White Wave, Greenspace, Center for Performance Research (CPR), Chez Bushwick, the FRESH Festival (San Francisco, CA), Deltebre Dansa (Spain) and Ponderosa (Germany). Laurel has been a guest teaching artist at organizations such as CLASSCLASSCLASS (NYC), Mark Morris Dance Center (Brooklyn, NY) the ADF Studios (Durham, NC) the Dance Exchange (Washington, DC), Colby College (Waterville, Maine), Henrico Performing Arts High School (Richmond, VA) and Leviathan Studio (Lasqueti, British Columbia).

Her performance starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by emailing cookie@denmarkarts.org or calling (207)-452-2412.
