PORTLAND, MAINE - On October 16, Running With Scissors, 250 Anderson Street, Portland, will present "The Makers Meal," a five-course chef- and brewery-paired meal showcasing more than 30 local makers of fine art, crafts, food and beer. The Makers Meal celebrates the strength -- and showcases the beauty -- of local makers at a unique and innovative benefit event. Dinner will take place in the Running With Scissors gallery and feature locally sourced and made food and brews, handmade place settings, and uniquely curated tables and environment. Many items such as linens, place settings and other home goods, and original artwork, will be available for experiencing and for sale at the event. Tickets range from $75 to $250 and can be ordered online at http://themakersmeal.bpt.me/ or by phone 207-831-5682.

All proceeds from The Makers Meal will benefit Running With Scissors’ efforts to bring the resources and community together for their artist-members to reach their independent creative goals as well as to help develop their education and community outreach programming.

The Makers Meal VIP Host Community includes Mika & Tom Reynolds, Ann & George Mathison, Dr. Susan Baskin, Jeffery Smith and Eliza Gouvernuer; and is sponsored by GrandyOats and Allagash Brewing Co.

All fine art and crafts remaining after The Makers Meal will be available for sale at Makers Day, part of the 2nd Annual East Bayside Block Party. This family-friendly showcase of a burgeoning neighborhood features music, dancing, demonstrations, food trucks and more and takes place on Saturday, October 18 from noon to 4:00 p.m. in various locations around East Bayside. For more information about the Block Party, contact Meghan Quinn at 978-618-0861.
