The Southern Maine Regional Finals will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Garland Auditorium, Thornton Academy, Saco. Students from twenty-three Maine high schools will be participating in this regional final. Five finalists will be selected from the regional competition to move on to the Maine Poetry Out Loud State Finals!

The events are free (no tickets required) and begin at 3:00 p.m.  All are welcome to attend. The Maine Arts Commission anticipates that the Regional Finals will conclude by approximately 5:30 p.m.

POL is organized by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation; it is administered at the state level by the Maine Arts Commission. This program encourages high school students from both public and private schools to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance.
