About the Artist

Writing is the sixth sense for me, the through-put of all the other senses. It is the way in to my brain and the way out of my heart. I began writing in earnest at age eleven composing drama-drenched letters to my family explaining that I had run away to join a religious cloister. They never saw the letters, but I saw and felt the joy, the release, the transformation of thoughts into words.

I grew up listening to family stories of Italian immigrants landing at New York?s Ellis Island. My aunts and uncles were first generation Americans coming of age in the 1920?s, surviving the Great Depression and two world wars. These stories, told on hot summer nights and at holiday gatherings, knitted themselves into my life and memories.Working in Creative Fiction genre.
