Brenda Ferguson

About the Artist

I am a self taught artist living and working in rural Dixmont, Maine. I worked as a teacher of the deaf and speech/language therapist in the public schools for 19 years. In 2001 I changed careers and began painting. I work in both soft pastels and oils. My inspiration comes from the colors I see around me and the simple beauty found in everyday objects. I try to infuse each piece with color and light. Art is an intimate experience for the creator and the viewer, and whether still life, animals or landscapes, I prefer an intimate perspective. Since October 2010 I have joined the ranks of daily painters and create a painting nearly every day. I also conduct workshops for adults and hold an annual studio open house. I was selected to create the large 14 ft x 32 ft mural in the publicly visible rotunda at Hollywood Slots in Bangor, Maine. To see more of my work please visit brendaferguson.blogspot.com
