About the Artist

Each word of our name denotes what is important about BCT: Bangor, Community, Theatre. We serve the Bangor region, involve the community, and are passionate about live theatre. Our mission is to provide opportunities for participation in theatre arts for all ages and all levels of ability and interest; to provide a social organization for those who share a common interest in all aspects of theatre; and to provide quality, affordable live theatre to patrons. BCT is the oldest continuously operating theatre entity in greater Bangor, born from the merger of Bangor Civic Theatre (founded 1951) and the Bangor Savoyards (1953). Throughout our 60-plus-year history, we have produced comedies, dramas, classic and original musicals, and murder mysteries in a variety of venues including the Bangor Opera House, The Grand Auditorium in Ellsworth, the Maine Center for the Arts (now the Collins Center) and the Cyrus Pavilion. For decades, BCT operated without a permanent rehearsal or performance space. That changed in 2015, when BCT formed a partnership with the historic Bangor Grange #372, 1192 Ohio St., Bangor. This partnership will enable us to make long-term plans that will enhance BCT's future.
